Thinking about learning asp

Hi everyone, Im thinking about learning asp.
Ive got some really basic questions which Im quite embarrased to ask
1. I work on a mac does that matter
2. Ive got a linux server is that ok? It does have the option to support asp so im guessin its ok
3. I was having a skim through but thought Id get a quickerresponse from just asking. What software do I need? and canI get a mac version
Thanks guys Id appreciate a response
:)
1. You can't run ASP.Net on a Mac - however, you can use any text editor to create the ASP.Net files
2. I've heard of something called the 'Mono' project that allows AsP.Net to run on (I believe) a linux server (don't quote me on this)
3. VS.Net does not have a Mac version, however, this is just for development (see #1)
I believe DreamWeaver has a Mac version, though I haven't used it and don't know how it works on a Mac for ASP.Net development
Have you done any kind of programming before?
(and I assume, though you said 'asp', that you mean ASP.Net, since this is an ASP.Net forum)

Hi Aura,
If you are on a Mac and you wish to use ASP.NET the best advice I can give you is to switch to a PC.
I do believe there is a SOFTWARE package on the MAC that is called VIRTUAL PC which should allow you
to run WINDOWS on your Mac. Check out the Mac self help site to see if the VIRTUAL PC will support
the .NET architecture.
I you have never programmed before perhaps using LINUX/UNIX centric technology Such as TOMCAT/APACHE
using either PHP or JSP as your web pages and MYSQL as the back end database.
If you are referring to flat out ASP or classic ASP as some here refer to it, you can use Chilisoft to run ASP pages
on your MAC web server.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to load MONO onto OSX and run it.you may want to talk to one of the people on the board that work on themono project. you should be able to, i don't see why you wouldn't
